The firm started working on Homeland Defense projects in 1998 to streamline the
response capabilities of state and local agencies in North Carolina in cases of
WMD incidents. We have
applied our engineering and military experience to the solution of force protection problems
in the public and private sector. We have modeled entire multistory buildings and applied
explosive forces to determine the vulnerable structural elements and designed protective
measures. We have conducted vulnerability assessment of hospital facilities and recommended
facility and procedural improvements to their operations to prevent and attack and to cope
with the consequences of a breach in security. ZAPATA
is a member of the Charlotte-Mecklenberg ALERT team providing emergency engineering support
to the local fire and police departments.
