  A WORD FROM OUR PRESIDENT

Project Spotlight

Schofield Barracks is an operational Army base and training facility located in the interior of the Island of Oahu, Hawaii that is directly controlled by the 25th Infantry Division and U.S. Army. ZAPATA was responsible for all aspects of the Munitions Response (MR), including, analyzing current construction design drawings, developing alternative approaches, mitigating human health risks, and designing the risk reduction approach.

ZAPATA performed an emergency design and provided construction oversight for the relocation of two, 20-inch chilled water lines and a large bank of fiber-optic communication lines servicing the Bank of America Corporate Tower in uptown Charlotte.

ZAPATA’s objective was to identify, locate and characterize potentially hazardous wastes. Activities included the excavation of selected areas of contamination, and dispose of all drums, debris, and hazardous wastes at a hazardous waste treatment, storage and disposal facility. Considering our level of effort onsite, we were able to complete all fieldwork tasks without a single injury.

ZAPATA is providing the Naval Weapons Station Charleston on-site GIS and AutoCAD Map services for the development and implementation of base-wide GIS and associated services. ZAPATA provides data development, implementation, and program consulting services for other military, civil service, and contractor personnel on the base.

"Your efforts resulted in an excellent rating for the contract. … [the] complicated and potentially dangerous job was completed on schedule and without any safety problems."

Thomas G. Corder, PE
Chief of Engineering
US Army Corps of Engineers, Wilmington District
